RE: Must dump when checking in -- is this common?

I'd avoid any place that required me to empty an already empty tank just to stay there. There is probably a "campground" a few miles down the road anyway so staying at a KOA parking lot wouldn't be on my list anyway.

RE: Need a new battery

there is no one answer that would be right for everyone. If you usually camp with electric hook ups, go for the cheapest one you can find. If you regularly boondock for extended periods of time you need a lot MORE battery power than that and even more importantly, something that will stand up to repeated charge/discharge cycles. If your RV requires mounting of the battery in a strange position or inside with no ventilation then AGM would be the way to go. The devil's in the details.

RE: battery smell

The smell could also be from your hot water system or even the gray tank.

RE: Have you balanced your TT tires?

Never have balanced or rotated any of mine but that MAY explain why I generally have to replace them after only 40,000 miles or so. Good luck / Skip

RE: Land Between the Lakes??

Hurricane Ridge is one of our favorites in that area. It's on the Barkley side and away from most of the crowds of Hillman and Energy Lake areas. Can be hard to get into though on week ends.

RE: Cost of campground rates going up...........

You MAY be confusing campgrounds with RV Parks. When I first began camping most "campgrounds" were about $2.00 a night where as now they've gone up to around $6.00 a night. Things sure have changed in 50 years. :)

RE: Sanitizing fresh water system for the first time...

Cute name but it won't replace sanitizing the system with Chlorine bleach.

RE: Equal-i-zer vs. Reese Dual Cam HP

They're both pretty good but remember the Equalizer is another friction based system. DC uses the spring bars resistance to stiffen the connection only when it's straight instead of at all angles like friction systems do. You can save a few bucks by converting your present system to the DC which MAY just about make the price of the two equal. Generally speaking the Equalizer is a fair amount less costly though. Good luck / Skip

RE: treating fresh water tank

I'd recommend you take the water filter out before treating the system. It'll be next to impossible to get the taste out of the filter and if it's any good, it'll filter the chlorine out of the solution so anything downstream won't be sanitized.

RE: Filling Prescriptions on the road

Nothing WRONG with Walgreens as long as you can FIND one. Walmart locations are such that you can hardly take a wrong turn without running into one. I have also been somewhat concerned about the high incidences of prescription errors reported at Walgreen pharmacy. I just place my Walmart order on line a couple of days prior to pick up and go in at slow times during the day (usually early to mid morning) and seldom find lines.

RE: How to weigh a TT

If what you're interested in is the trailer weight just unhitch and weigh the trailer with the tongue on one platform and the axles on the other. No reason to go through any contortions IF that's all you're interested in.

RE: draining fresh water tank..SLOW?!

Small hole drains slow and a large hole drains quickly. Nothing wrong with using the pump to force more water out the LP drains if you're in a hurry though.

RE: 2009 F150 Heavy Duty Payload Package

The only change I've heard of from the 3,050 lb. payload they've had since 2004 is that they will be including the payload option to the crew cab models starting on 09. With a payload of 3,050 lb. the F-150 has a larger payload than many 3/4 ton diesel trucks so THAT is probably why someone would consider one. Good luck / Skip

RE: temperature, voltage, and tire pressure.

sounds like you're over-thinking the inflation issue. Fill your tires, per instructions from the manufacturer, to the rated pressure when they're ambient temp (not driven on) and forget it. If you start trying to second guess temperature changes you'll be pulling over every time you go around a curve and take the sunlight from a different angle. Tire makers are smart enough to KNOW that the temp will effect them and they've got you covered.

RE: Who is camping over Memorial Day?

LOL I even shop at a different GROCERY store that weekend because my normal one is a half mile closer to a campground and I don't want to even get CLOSE to a campground on that holiday :)

RE: MMMM Buick Rainier or Cadi Escalade

I'd go for the fuel mileage of the Buick if it were me. A BOAT is about the easiest tow you can find due to the aerodynamics of the shape so the Buick should do just fine. Of course it SOUNDS like you really want the Cadillac so I'm not sure why you're asking :)

RE: Front Mounted Trailer Hitch

My advice would be to learn to BACK the trailer in. You may ALSO find some tight spots in campgrounds or maneuvering around gas stations and keeping everyone else waiting while you unhitch and turn around would be a pain. there is really no reason you can't learn to back into any spot you can pull forward into with just a little practice.

RE: Don't try this with class A or 5er

Looks like the same tunnel we found a "Cruise America" rental unit wedged half in and half out a couple of years ago. What a mess as the Iron Mountain road is a one way road so everyone behind them was ALSO stuck until they drug him out.
